Daffodil Day - Jute bag

Give a gift of hope to those affected by cancer and help us raise $1.5 million for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services for all cancers.

This year is the 25th Anniversary of Daffodil day and Coles is proud to be one of the longest standing supporters. To date, we have raised over $10 million for the fight against cancer.

All funds raised at Coles will go towards Cancer Council’s Helpline
(13 11 20)
- a free, confidential telephone service staffed by trained health professionals. The Cancer Council Helpline was set up to answer questions about cancer and to provide emotional and practical support to those affected by cancer.

Morgyn & Monique’s story

Morgyn and Monique
Monique Glyndwr experienced every mother’s nightmare when she was told that her two year old daughter, Morgyn had cancer.

She tells us what it meant for her and how Cancer Council helped her through this difficult time.

Monique says:

I had Morgyn on my lap. And the doctor just turned around and said, I’m sorry to tell you that Morgyn has a very rare and very aggressive form of cancer. I just let out this primal scream. I couldn’t believe I was capable of making such a noise."

Morgyn was just two when her cancer journey began. After being admitted into hospital – for what her mum Monique thought was routine surgery, Morgyn left with a diagnosis of a rare and agressive form of cancer.

The two long and difficult years of treatments and hospital stays that followed caused great distress for Morgyn’s entire family.

As Monique told us, during the darkest days – when she feared her daughter might not survive the week – it was hope that kept them going:

Cancer Council made sure we never felt alone. They were with us every step of the way, providing information on treatments and emotional support via their in-hospital information centres and helpline.

Their constant encouragement kept us positive and focused on getting Morgyn through each stage of her journey. I am overjoyed to say that, thanks to recent advances made through cancer research, today Morgyn is cancer-free."

Morgyn says:

Daffodil Day raises money to help people with cancer and I had cancer. I’m a survivor now so I want to try and raise money, so we can help those people who are still fighting battles."

Help us help more people like Monique and Morgyn by supporting Daffodil Day in store and via Coles Online from 18 July and throughout August and give a gift of hope to those you love.
