Environment

Coles strives to be an environmentally responsible business and in all areas attempts to minimise its impact on the environment.

For more than 14 years Coles has been actively developing environmental initiatives, from looking at ways to reduce the number of plastic bags going to landfill, to being the first retailer to introduce unbleached toilet paper onto the market in 1991.

In May 2000 Coles Victoria won a Sustainable Energy Authority Award in the category of Best Retail / Service Provider, recognising Coles' outstanding achievement in energy management.

Coles is enthusiastic in its approach to the environment and is looking forward to developing new initiatives and working more closely with suppliers to further reduce packaging and encourage environment friendly manufacturing procedures.

To this end, Coles has appointed a National Manager Environmental and Social programs, to pursue Coles' strategic position and objectives.

Through its extensive support of the following environmental programs, Coles helps raise community awareness about the importance of taking care of our environment.
