National Rugby League partnership
The program, developed and delivered by the Australian Rugby League (ARL) development offices, can be implemented into the current PE curriculum, and engages children in learning the essential ‘game sense’ skills, with a modified, informal version of rugby league.
Coles Backyard League allows boys and girls of all shapes, sizes and abilities to get active and become involved in Rugby League at a less formal level.
The program is linked with Rugby League’s One Community ‘Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well’ program, allowing development officers and teachers to deliver key health messages in a fun environment.
To date the program has engaged more than 1.25million students. This year the Coles Backyard League will embrace over 150,000 primary school students nationwide.
