Coles partnership with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation

Coles and the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation began their partnership in 2020 to bring the magic of food education to primary and secondary schools across the country and inspire young people to learn more about fresh fruit and vegetables.

The Foundation has over 20 years of experience delivering its impactful Kitchen Garden Program to over 1,000 schools and early learning centres across Australia. The Kitchen Garden Program is recognised worldwide. It empowers children, their families and the community to grow, harvest, prepare and share colourful, nutritious meals brimming with fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs. The Program takes classroom learning into the garden and kitchen, allowing students to experience fun, hands-on opportunities to grow produce and prepare tasty, wholesome dishes that will shape their healthy eating habits for life.

Together with customers and fresh produce suppliers, Coles has donated more than $1.8 million to the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation to support positive food education for Aussie children. On top of that, Coles has donated more than $310,000 directly to 70 school communities through its school and store partnership program and developed more than 60 educational resources for schools across Australia to experience.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, alongside Coles, is helping to develop recipes and videos that support teachers and educators to enhance their Kitchen Garden Program lessons. These recipes and videos are also enjoyed by Aussie families keen to try easy, flavourful food in their homes — and lunchboxes!

Coles ambassadors, Michael Weldon, Courtney Roulston and Brent Draper host the recipe videos taking kids and their carers on a step-by-step journey through ingredients and methods, firing up little tastebuds to explore the exciting possibilities of fresh food.
