MasterChef Knives FAQs

The Coles MasterChef Knife Program is an exciting opportunity for Flybuys members to collect free MasterChef Knives by earning Knife Credits on eligible purchases.

The MasterChef Knives are suitable for everyday use in the kitchen, but please ensure strict care is taken as the knives are extremely sharp. The MasterChef Knives are not suitable for children.

Simply shop in a Coles Supermarket or on Coles Online from 4th November 2020 to 26th January 2021, and scan or enter your Flybuys card to earn Knife Credits. Once you have collected enough Knife Credits, head into a Coles Supermarket, scan your Flybuys card as well as your chosen MasterChef Knife to redeem it for free.

Scan or enter your Flybuys card and you will receive 1 Knife Credit for every $20 qualifying spend in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets and Coles Online. For example, if you spend $60 in one transaction, you will receive 3 Knife Credits. The qualifying spend is calculated after applying all savings and discounts and excludes the purchase of select products. See Terms & Conditions for all exclusions.

The number of Knife Credits earned will be printed on the bottom of your receipt, or invoice for Coles Online orders. Alternatively, you can find your Knife Credit balance in your account on the Flybuys website or on the Flybuys app.

Yes, you will continue to collect Flybuys points on all eligible transactions. The earning or redemption of Knife Credits will not impact the collection or redemption of your Flybuys points.

One bonus Knife Credit will be awarded when you spend the qualifying $20 or more in one transaction and purchase one or more products from a participating brand or product range. There is a limit of one Knife Credit earned, per brand or product range, per transaction.

A full list of participating brands can be found in the terms & conditions at coles.com.au/masterchefknives

Yes, this program is only available to current Flybuys members and new Flybuys members who join during the program. If you’re not an existing Flybuys member but sign up between 4th November 2020 and 26th January 2021, you’ll receive 5 bonus Knife Credits to get you started!

There is an additional 2 weeks from 27th January to the 9th February 2021 to redeem your Knife Credits for MasterChef Knives, but only while stocks last; however, you can no longer earn Knife Credits during this period.

No, only Knife Credits can be redeemed for MasterChef Knives.

No, once your Flybuys card has been scanned in a Coles Supermarket or entered in your Coles Online account, Knife Credits are automatically applied once the qualifying spend amount has been reached.

If you are not an existing Flybuys member, simply pick-up a temporary Flybuys card in-store at the check-out and scan it each time you shop, so you can start collecting Knife Credits immediately. Alternatively, you can enter your temporary card number on Coles Online to start collecting Knife Credits. Please note your temporary card does not mean you are a registered Flybuys member. You will need to register your temporary Flybuys card by downloading the Flybuys app or at flybuys.com.au/register.

There are a total of 6 MasterChef Knife varieties that can be redeemed for Knife Credits.

 Item  Credits
 MasterChef Utility Knife   20
 MasterChef Small Santoku  20
 MasterChef Bread Knife  30
 MasterChef Cooks Knife  35
 MasterChef Large Santoku Knife   35
 MasterChef Steak Knives 2-Pack  35

The Acacia Knife Block is available to purchase in stores while stocks last. You cannot use your Knife Credits to redeem the knife block for free.

MasterChef Large Cooks Knife – the most used knife in the kitchen, best for mincing and light cleaving

MasterChef Bread Knife – traditionally used for slicing bread but can also cut tender tomatoes and other tick-skinned/tender flesh fruits like peaches and nectarines.

Large Santoku Knife – an all-round knife for a variety of tasks, including slicing, dicing and mincing.

Small Santoku Knife – suits lighter tasks in the kitchen and is also suitable for slicing, dicing and mincing.

MasterChef Utility Knife – suitable for preparing simple meals and accompanying light snacks and appetising treats.

MasterChef Steak Knives 2-Pack – great for meat and poultry.

We don’t recommend using any knife to cut frozen food as it will quickly blunt the blade, however if you do, a serrated knife (the Bread Knife or Steak Knife) is better than a flat edged knife (the Cook’s Knife or the Santoku Knives). We recommend that you always defrost food prior to cutting.
