What is a Material Safety Data Sheet?

A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a document which describes the chemical and physical properties of a hazardous chemical. It also provides information on the safe handling and use of the chemical.

Information in an MSDS can be used to help assess risk in the workplace, and includes:

  • Identification of the chemical/ product
  • Health and chemical hazards
  • Procedures for safe handling and storage
  • Emergency measures
  • Disposal advice

In a medical emergency customers should seek medical attention or advice as a first priority.
