Footy is back

AFL players return to training

Footy fans all over the country are anticipating the return of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The AFL and Coles are preparing for a blockbuster return with Collingwood and Richmond set to clash tomorrow night!

The players returned to training on 18 May in preparation for this week’s season re-launch. The AFL have been working closely with the government to implement health protocols that will aim to protect, players, officials, staff and the wider public. All those involved in the game have been tested ahead of the game and will continue to be tested and screened throughout the season.

While the game format may be different, with early round matches starting with either no crowds or only a small selection of club members, there is no doubt that Australians will be glued to their tellies, keen to cheer on their teams and get back into the footy spirit.

As the Official Supermarket of the AFL and AFLW, Coles Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Ronson said that helping Australians live happier and healthier lives was central to the partnership.

"As two Australian organisations with more than 100 years of history behind us, Coles is delighted to be embarking on this journey with the AFL family,” she said.

“Coles’ purpose to sustainably feed all Australians and help them live happier, healthier lives is very much aligned to the positive influence the AFL has across the country.

“This partnership will help make a positive difference to the enjoyment of the women’s and men’s games which are loved, played and watched by so many of our customers and team members.”

Coles would like to acknowledge and thank the AFL fans, who have shown enormous amounts of patience and support, during these unprecedented times. We hope that Australians can use the return of the season as a chance to reconnect and unite over a few footy pies, some cold drinks and a shared love of footy!
