Recall of Rockmelon

Two rockmelons

Recalled on March 1 2018

Withdrawal of rockmelon (also known as cantaloupe) sold in Coles Supermarkets in New South Wales, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania and from Coles online.

Coles has withdrawn all rockmelons (also known as cantaloupe) from sale in our Coles Supermarkets in New South Wales, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania and from Coles online. Rockmelons sold in our Western Australian stores have been sourced from a different supplier.

This withdrawal was enacted on the advice of the NSW Food Authority after a recent spike in listeriosis cases in elderly people, which has been linked to rockmelon from a supplier in NSW.

Coles takes food safety very seriously and is carrying out its own investigation with the supplier to understand the cause and ensure the issue is fully resolved.

If customers have purchased rockmelons, they are advised not to consume the product and should dispose of the product. Customers can visit any Coles supermarket with a proof of purchase for a full refund. It is not necessary for customers to return the product to store.

Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice. Customers seeking further information can contact Coles Customer Care on 1800 061 562.
