Caramel-apple scrolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (300g) self-raising flour
  • 2 tbs caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g chilled butter, cut into 1cm pieces
  • 3/4 cup (185ml) milk
  • 2 red apples, cored, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Coles Bake & Create Caramel Dulce de Leche

Method

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a large baking tray with baking paper. Combine the flour, sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the milk and use a round-bladed knife to stir until a soft, sticky dough forms. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 1 min or until just smooth.
  2. Step 2

    Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough on a well-floured surface to a 30cm x 40cm rectangle. Sprinkle the apple evenly over the dough and drizzle with the caramel sauce.
  3. Step 3

    Roll the dough tightly from 1 long side to enclose the filling. Use a serrated knife to trim ends. Cut roll into 12 slices. Arrange scrolls on prepared tray and bake for 20-25 mins or until cooked through. Set aside on the tray to cool.

    Store it: Wrap the scrolls individually and keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
