Green juice recipe

If you’re keen to get some veggie goodness into your every day, a green juice is your answer. Known to have a variety of good-for-you benefits, green juice has become increasingly popular and making your own at home couldn’t be easier. You can add any green fruit and veg you like - cucumber, kiwi fruit, celery, spinach and green apples - to cater to your taste. Making your own green veggie juice is also a great way to use up all that produce in your veggie drawer. Whether you start your day with a green juice or sip on the healthy drink as a refreshing addition to your nine-to-five, there are many good reasons to enjoy this wholesome beverage.

Green juice ingredients

There aren’t any hard-and-fast rules about what goes into a green juice, but try to always get the best-quality produce. For this recipe, we’ve gone for 20g baby spinach leaves, which are a brilliant source of iron; vitamin-C-rich  Granny Smith apple, kiwi fruit and lime (they also give the juice a sweet-sour hit); cucumber and coconut water which both help with increasing hydration levels, and warming ginger, which has plenty of antioxidants and will give your drink a nice kick.

How to make green juice

First prepare your ingredients. Remove the core from the apple and chop - there’s no need to peel it as apple peel also contains a variety of nutrients (just make sure you’ve washed it well). Chop the cucumber, and peel and chop the kiwi fruit and lime. Next, finely grate the ginger to make 2 tsp. Now place all of these ingredients, plus the coconut water into a blender and blend until smooth. You could also use a juicer if you have one, but using a blender helps to retain more of the fibre in the fruits and vegetables used. Then pour the mixture into a glass and enjoy right away with lime slices.

Now get cooking
