Homemade apple sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, into wedges
  • 2 Modi apples, peeled, cored, into wedges
  • 1 tbs lemon juice
  • 1 tbs caster sugar
  • 1/4 tsp mixed spice

Method

  1. Step 1

    Place the combined apple in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add lemon juice, caster sugar, mixed spice and ¼ cup (60ml) water to the pan and bring to a simmer.
  2. Step 2

    Cover and cook for 10 mins or until the apple softens. Uncover and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 mins or until the apple is tender and liquid is almost evaporated. Transfer the apple sauce to airtight containers and place in the fridge to chill. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
