Treatment costs vary greatly in relation to extent of paralysis and time frame presented to vet. Costs range from $500 to $20,000+*.
The neurotoxin of the paralysis tick causes a progressive flaccid paralysis (a weakness that progresses to paralysis).
Treatments and removal usually cost between $5,000 to $7,000.
Intervertebral discs are located between the vertebrae (bones of the spine), acting as shock absorbers during movement. IVDD occurs when the discs between these vertebrae begin to degenerate; a disc bulges (protrudes) or herniates (bursts), causing compression of the neurological tissue at the site.

You can choose to receive either 80% or 100% back on eligible vet bills after you pay the applicable excess. A $200 excess applies for accidents and illnesses.

There is a 21 day waiting periods for most accidents and illness; with the following exceptions:
Conditions arising in the waiting period or before the policy starts, are not covered. Please refer to the PDS or your schedule if you are an existing Coles Pet Insurance customer.
A pre-existing condition is an accident or illness that occurred before taking out the policy or within the waiting period, and that you or your vet were aware of or could have been reasonably aware of.
Accidents that have already occurred, ongoing illness and bilateral conditions will not be covered by our policies. Please refer to the PDS and TMDs for more information
Yes, all our policies have a standard excess of $200 for Accident and Illness cover. There are no excesses payable for Routine Care optional cover. Please refer to the PDS or your schedule if you are an existing Coles Pet Insurance customer.
All our policies have an aggregate limit, which is the total amount that you can claim per year.
Sub-limits apply for some illnesses, accidents and optional Routine care add-ons. This is the amount that you can claim per year for those specific illnesses.
