Coles MasterChef Knives 2021 Campaign – Terms & Conditions

1. General

1.1         The Coles MasterChef Knives 2021 campaign (“Campaign”) is owned and managed by Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd ABN 45 004 189 708 (“Coles”), whose main office is at 800 Toorak Rd, Hawthorn East, Vic, 3123.

Acceptance of a Coles MasterChef Knives digital credit (“Credit”) and participation in this Campaign is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2. MasterChef knives credit participation

2.1         For every $20 spent in one transaction after any applicable discounts and exclusions set out below (“Qualifying Spend”) at any Coles Supermarket store or Coles Online between 00:01am AEDT 27 October 2021 to 11.59pm AEDT 1 February 2022 (“Campaign Period”), Coles will provide customers with one Credit, provided the customer is a Flybuys member and has scanned their Flybuys card in store or linked their Flybuys member number online at the time of purchase. 2.3         The total number of Credits a customer has earned in a transaction, and in total from all Qualifying Spends during the Campaign Period, can be found at the bottom of each Coles Supermarket store receipt when a Qualifying Spend occurs in that transaction. The total number of Credits earned and redeemed to date can also be found in the Member’s section on flybuys.com.au/masterchefknives and on the Flybuys mobile application.

3.3         Only the Products listed in clause 3.2 are eligible to be redeemed for Credits.

3.4         Rainchecks will not be provided during the Campaign Period or Redemption Period.

3.5         Credits can only be redeemed for Products while stocks last.

3.6         Products will only be redeemable in a Coles Supermarket store or on Coles Online.

3.7         Products can be purchased during the Campaign Period at the retail price as indicated in store or on Coles Onlineat the customer’s choice if the customer does not have sufficient Credits to redeem Products, or if the customer is not a Flybuys member.

3.8                Products can also be purchased/redeemed via a half pay initiative. If the customer has half the amount of required Credits, the customer will have the option to ‘half pay’. This requires redeeming using 50% of the required Credits and will also require the customer to pay 50% of the Products retail price. The payment component can be completed using cash, EFTPOS and gift cards at any Coles Supermarket store or via Flypay, Debit or Credit card on Coles Online.

3.9                To redeem any Credits in store, customers must visit a Coles Supermarket store and select the Products they wish to redeem/purchase from the merchandise stand displayed. Customers are then required to take their Products through a checkout where they can scan the Products along with their Flybuys card. If enough Credits have been accumulated, the customer will be given the option to redeem the Products for the Credits. If the customer has half the amount of required credits, the customer will have the option to ‘half pay’ and will then be required to pay 50% of the Products retail price and use 50% of the amount of required Credits. If there are not enough Credits, the customer still has the option of purchasing the Products at the retail price displayed. Customers do not have the option of choosing to half pay if they have the full amount of Credits required to redeem the Product for free. If the customer has enough Credits to redeem more than one item of MasterChef Products in store, the customer must scan the Products and their Flybuys card. They will then be asked whether they would like to redeem these Products using Credits. The customer will then receive the first item of knives for free and the second item for free (if enough Credits) or will qualify for half pay and will need to redeem using 50% of the Credits and pay the 50% of the retail price.

3.10            To redeem any Credits on Coles Online, customers must sign up or log in to their Coles Online account and select the Products they wish to redeem/purchase and add them to their trolley along with other items if required to qualify the minimum order value of $50. Customers are then required to click ‘Proceed to check out’ whereby their account will be checked to ensure their Flybuys account is linked to their Coles Online  account. Once their flybuys card is linked, the customer will be prompted on screen to ‘Redeem’ their Credits or ‘Skip offer’ if they do not wish to redeem their Credits. The customer’s order confirmation screen will display their order total including their redeemed Products at retail price without the credit deduction. If customers choose to ‘redeem’ their Credits and has enough Credits for half Credits and ‘half pay’ or full Credits for an item, their Credits will be deducted when Products are packed and invoiced. Credits will be applied to the most expensive knife first to maximise the amount of credits used. If customers choose to ‘Redeem’ credits and they do not have any credits in their account when their order is packed and invoiced, they will be charged in full for the Products.

3.11      In New South Wales, South Australia, and Australian Capital Territory, some Products may only be redeemed or purchased by customers over the age of 16 years old. In Victoria, some Products may only be redeemed or purchased by customers over the age of 18 years old. Coles Team Members may request for the customer to present an acceptable form of personal identification (ID) and proof of age as per state-specific legislation, and may refuse redemptions or purchases of Products if they have any doubt about the customer’s age. Coles Team Members are required to refuse redemptions or purchases of Products if they suspect the redemption or purchase of Products is for a person under the legal age. In addition, on shop.coles.com.au, the customer will be prompted to enter in their date of birth for proof of age during their checkout process, nationally.

Yes, if you have earned enough credits to redeem more than 1 MasterChef product for free, simply scan your Flybuys card and the MasterChef products to redeem.

If you have earned enough credits to redeem 1 item for free and 1 item via half pay, simply scan your Flybuys card and the MasterChef products. You will need to redeem the Masterchef product for free first and then can redeem the second Masterchef product by redeeming 50% of your Knife Credits and paying 50% of the retail price for the half pay product.

You cannot choose to half pay if you have the number of credits eligible to redeem the product with full credits.

We recommend you redeem the Masterchef products once you’ve collected enough credits as this program is only available whilst stocks last.

On Coles Online, if you choose to redeem your credits we will automatically deduct either half credit and half pay or the full credit amount depending on your credit balance at point of pack and invoice for your order.

It may take between 5-20 minutes after the transaction for Knife Credits to be applied to your Flybuys account. If you are unable to redeem your Knife Credits, please wait and try again.

From the 3rd of November you will be able to redeem your knife credits on Coles Online. This excludes transactions through the Coles App.

Exclusions apply on the purchase of Coles Insurance products, Coles Best Buys Online Exclusive, iTunes cards, gift cards, mobile phones and mobile phone plans, recharge, Opal top up, calling cards, liquor, eBay, UberEats, tobacco and tobacco related product purchases. Other products may also be excluded at Coles’ discretion during the Campaign Period. Coles Express purchases are also excluded.

Australia has strict laws around the sale of knives to minors. To purchase or redeem you need to be 16 years of age or older in SA, NSW or ACT, or 18 years of age or older in VIC. If you look younger than 25 in any of the above states, you will be asked for proof of ID. If you cannot provide acceptable ID, the knives will be removed from your transaction.

For Coles Online orders Coles Team Members may request for the customer to present an acceptable form of personal identification (ID) and proof of age as per state-specific legislation, and may refuse redemptions or purchases of Products if they have any doubt about the customer’s age. Coles Team Members are required to refuse redemptions or purchases of Products if they suspect the redemption or purchase of Products is for a person under the legal age. In addition, on Coles Online, the customer will be prompted to enter in their date of birth for proof of age during their checkout process, nationally.

The MasterChef products are produced by a world class and experienced manufacturer in China who are not only capable of delivering such large volumes but also delivering quality products that meet international food and testing standards.

Before using, please read the Use & Care instruction leaflet which you can find in the product packaging and follow the instructions carefully on how to clean and use each item.

Yes; but it is recommended that both the knives & scissors are washed by hand using mild soap and warm water as harsh chemicals. Putting them in the dishwasher will dull the blade and destroy the finish due to the harsh detergents and the drying cycle.  To avoid rusting, be sure to dry your knives and scissors before storing and avoid leaving them soaking in the sink.

Before using the MasterChef Mini Chopper for the first time, carefully remove the protective blade sheath packaging from the blade.  Wash the bowl, lid and blade assembly in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before reassembling.  Wipe the outer area of the motor with a lightly dampened cloth but avoid the bottom of the motor base.  Never immerse the motor unit in water or place under running water.  We recommend washing the blade with a brush and always take special care as the blades are very sharp.  To avoid scratching the gloss of the appliance, do not use chemicals, steel, wooden or abrasive cleaners to clean the appliance.

Kitchen Scissors:  are very versatile for completing both light tasks such as cutting herbs or heavier tasks such as separating a chicken.  You can also use the recessed handle to assist with opening screw top jars and for cracking nuts.

Paring Knife: a multi-purpose knife which is ideal for cleaning, peeling, cutting fruits or vegetables.  The sharp point makes it ideal for scoring meats or pastries.

Small Santoku: suits lighter tasks in the kitchen and is also suitable for slicing, dicing and mincing.

Cook’s Knife: the most used knife in the kitchen, best for mincing and light cleaving.

Steak Knife (2 set): great for meat and poultry with razor sharp ½ serrated cutting edge.

Large Santoku: an all-round knife for a variety of tasks, including slicing, dicing and mincing.

Cleaver: the MasterChef cleaver is designed to cut, chop and dice meats, vegetables and fruits. It is not intended for cutting bone and this use may damage or break the blade.

No, each of the knives are designed to carry out specific cutting tasks so we recommend using the smaller knives for the lighter tasks and the larger heavier blades for heavy duty cutting tasks.  Using the wrong knife sized knife can cause damage to the knife blade and potentially cause the knife blade to snap.

We don’t recommend using any knife to cut frozen food as it will either chip the blade or quickly blunt the blade and cause permanent damage.  However if you do, a serrated knife (the Steak Knife) is better than a flat edged knife such as the Cook’s knife or Santoku knife. We recommend that you always defrost food prior to cutting.

The MasterChef Chinese-style cleaver is designed to cut, chop and dice meats, vegetables and fruits. It is not intended for cutting bone and this use may damage or break the blade.

It’s a good idea to sharpen your knives regularly.  Not only does a sharp knife improve the precision and speed of your cutting, but it also helps to keep your fingers safe.  Dull knives can slip during use.  You can sharpen your knives either using a whetstone or sharpening steel but only sharpen straight edge knives.  Never sharpen serrated knives.

Placing your knives into a drawer with other cutlery can damage the blades and could permanently damage it.  By keeping your knives in a safe spot such as a countertop knife block, a magnetic wall strip or within a drawer with inserts will help to extend the life of your knives and keep your kitchen tidy.

The filament inside the knife block easily slides out of the frame so that it can be washed by hand in warm soapy water.  The wooden knife block can be cleaned simply by wiping over the surface with a damp soapy cloth but never soak in water.  An occasional wipe with vegetable oil can help restore to the original natural appearance.  Note that the Cleaver cannot be placed in the knife block due to the size and weight which will cause the filament to separate and permanently damage it.

If you leave your knives soaking in water or to drip dry, eventually spots will start to appear on the knife blade.  To remove these spots, use a light scourer with warm soapy water to remove the spots and wipe dry.  Always fully dry your knives immediately after handwashing.

Never use your knives to perform any other task than cutting, slicing or dicing i.e. avoid using your knives to pry open lids, screws or tin cans as this can cause damage the blade.

The Mini Chopper can chop, mince puree, mix and blend in seconds.  It’s ideal for chopping meats, garlic, herbs, fruits and vegetables.  It has pulse buttons but avoid running the motor continuously in this mode for more than 30 seconds.  The longer the pulse, the finer the texture.  For coarsely chopped foods, use short pluses but never exceed the maximum time of 30 seconds.

The Mini Chopper is suitable for meat, peppers, onions, herbs, garlic, carrots, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and fruits.  It is not recommended to process very hard foods such as ice cubes, coffee beans and soya-beans.  It is also recommended not to overfill the glass bowl and if necessary, chop the ingredients in batches.

Yes, the gift box, paper usage instructions and plastic safety packaging are all recyclable in your kerbside bin.

Always place the round rubber bowl mat under the glass bowl to hold the bowl in place and prevent the bowl from moving.

Always ensure that the bowl and lid are closed properly and locked in position otherwise the appliance will not start.
