Pet Grooming Tips

All pets require some grooming for them to live a happy and healthy life. Different pets require different levels of grooming and some will happily groom themselves while others need you to do all their regular grooming for them.

For Dogs

Most dogs will need regular brushing to keep its coat clean and free from tangles. The amount of brushing per week depends on your dog’s coat type and length.

Depending on you and your dog’s lifestyle, regular bathing is recommended for a clean and odour-free coat. However, bathing your dog too often can strip the natural oils from its coat and dry out its skin.

Depending on you and your dog’s lifestyle, checking your dog’s nail length every fortnight is recommended. We recommend using our Total Care Nail Trimmer to trim your dog’s nails. Trimming your dog’s nails to an appropriate length can help to prevent your dog from experiencing discomfort.

Trimming your dog’s fur can help prevent tangling and matting, reduce hair thickness and volume and for any general overgrowth within our dog’s coat. Our Total Care 2-in-1 Grooming Scissors features a straight blade for trimming and cutting, a thinning portion of blade for reducing hair thickness and volume along with blunt tips to reduce the risk of pinching your dog’s skin.

For Cats

Brushing your cats coat can help keep their fur healthy and shiny, reduce the amount of hairballs, and to help remove dead hair and loosen any tangles and mats. It can also help to decrease the amount of hairballs. Our Total Care Slicker & Massager brush is a great option as it’s designed to help loosen tangles and mats whilst also stimulating the natural oils in your cat’s coat. The rubber tips side gently massages your cat whilst helping to remove dead hair whereas the stronger bristle side helps to loosen tangles, mats & removes dead hair from the undercoat, leaving the top coat healthy & shiny.

Your cat’s nails should be trimmed regularly. Begin by applying gentle pressure to the top of the foot and cushiony pad underneath, this will cause them to extend their claws. We recommend using our Total Care Nail Clippers to cut off the white tip of each nail, just before the point where it begins to curl.
