Purina TotalCare Market Place

At Purina Total Care, we take our sustainability seriously. So seriously that we are committed to ensuring that 100% of our packaging is recyclable or reusable by 2025 – while also reducing the amount of packaging we use in the process. Here is a list of some of the changes we’ve made to our range:

Purina TotalCare sustainability

Recycled cotton & recycled materials used for our toys
Some materials are just as lovely the second time around, which is why we use various recycled rubber materials and/or recycled cotton for some of our Total Care toys.

Removal of cable ties and unnecessary plastic waste
Previously, our accessories were secured with cable ties made from virgin nylon plastic, which cannot be recycled due to their size and weight. To make the majority of our packaging recyclable, we have replaced our nylon cable ties with paper ties or recyclable ‘origami style’ folded paper.

Removing plastic packaging
We have removed plastic packaging from our health and hygiene range, including flea and worming medication. The range now features RFID stickers and are packed in boxes made of recycled cardboard, instead of PET clamshell packaging. The replacement of the PET clamshells with recycled cardboard packaging has reduced 13.4 tonnes of plastic packaging a year.

RPET pet collars & leads
Unlike some dog collars, which are made from virgin polyester, we use recycled plastic bottles – also called RPET. We know there’s more to do when it comes to the circular economy and recycled content, but it’s another step in the right direction to make our products as sustainable as possible.
