Solidly dark, deep, red and purple. An honest hue. Ripe mulberry and blueberry aromatics; a melded gentleness. Some freshly shaved pencil, some older oak, some blackberry as all cabernet must have? Aromas of berries first, then the secondary bouquet wafts - almost unnoticed - in. Soft red berry fruits begin and then a core of more determined blackberries march through, as if straight from the field. Following them rush at some speed a surfing wave of bucolic tannins. They are large, a little rough, but out for a good time. This is broad, long, wide and frying red wine - and it is savoury. A delicate heft. A rich cabernet, yet with Coonawarra unmistakably there.
