Looking for a quick and easy side dish? You can't go past our Braised Peas with Bacon and Lettuce recipe. Featuring white wine, garlic and parsley for added flavour, it’s a real crowd pleader.

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 175g bacon, sliced into batons
  • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 4 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 600g Coles Brand Australian Frozen Peas
  • ¼ cup (60ml) white wine
  • ½ cup (125ml) chicken stock
  • 20g butter
  • 3 cups shredded butter lettuce
  • Flat-leaf parsley sprigs, to serve

  1. Step 1

    Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook bacon for 5 mins or until golden and crisp. Add garlic and onions. Cook for 2 mins.
  2. Step 2

    Add peas, wine, stock and butter. Simmer for 3 mins or until the liquid has reduced slightly. Add lettuce and cook for a further 2 mins or until wilted. Season with salt and pepper. Top with parsley and serve as a side for a roast.
