If you like pavlova, I've got this great little recipe - candy cane meringues. First of all, we're going to make the meringue. We're going to be putting eggwhites. Good work. And we'll mix it up. Can you see it? Is it getting fluffy? Yeah? We want it nice and firm. We'll put it down to low. And would you like to start adding some of the sugar? We'll get the guard here so it protects our little fingers. In it goes. Good work, Ruby. Yeah, we just put all the sugar in. Shall I tip the rest in, do you think? You did a really, really good job, honey. This is exactly what we want - shiny, glossy and peaky too. So now, the next part is just a little bit tricky. So do you want to go play, sweetheart, and I'll call you when the fun is about to start? Alright. Thanks for your help. Good girl. You get some food dye. Any colour you like, but today I'm using red for Christmas. We stick in a toothpick or a skewer, wooden skewer. And in your piping bag, you put lines along the bag. And now we put the meringue in. It's looking amazing. Great texture here. And then we're going to squeeze it all the way down to the base of the bag. And see now you can really see the food dye coming up. All that beautiful red. So to push the meringue down, what we need to do is just to cut the bottom of the bag about a centimetre. OK, so now we pipe our beautiful stars. Rubes, do you want to come and help me? Look how pretty they are! You ready? Here we go. Hold the bag. Ready? And we lean over and squeeze. That's it and pull up. (GASPS) You did it! Shall we do another one? Oh, they're so pretty. So once these are ready to bake, we put them in an oven on 100 degrees for 45 minutes. And now it's time to decorate. So what we're going to do is we've put some candy canes in a Ziploc bag and we're going to smash them and crush them. Can you do that for Mummy? You had a hard day at kindy. Whack it down. (BOTH LAUGH) (LAUGHS) Alright, and we just tip it all into the bowl and we get one meringue and we dip it into the chocolate. Like that. And then into the crushed candy cane. And we put it up on its side to dry. Do you want to have a turn? Yeah! Beautiful. Perfect. And once they're set, we can eat them. Yum! Yours looks beautiful.
