Soft, sweet and tangy caramelised mushrooms are a perfect addition to salads, rice bowls, burritos, sandwiches, barbecue steak or chicken schnitty. Mushie lovers will adore these!

Caramelised mixed mushrooms


  • 40g butter
  • 250g brown mushrooms, quartered
  • 250g small button mushrooms, halved
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 2 tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 2 oregano sprigs
  • Oregano leaves, extra, to serve

  1. Step 1

    Heat the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 mins or until mushrooms are browned. Add sugar, vinegar and oregano and cook for 5 mins or until mushrooms are caramelised and sauce has thickened. Sprinkle with oregano leaves to serve.
