This easy black forest cake recipe turns store-bought cakes into something spectacular.

Cheat's black forest cake

Ingredients

  • 2 Coles Chocolate Mud Cakes
  • 300ml thickened cream
  • 1/3 cup (110g) cherry jam
  • 680g jar Coles Morello Cherries, drained
  • 1/2 x 400g tub chocolate frosting
  • Chopped Cadbury Cherry Ripe bar, to serve
  • White chocolate curls, to serve
  • Coles Bake and Create Raspberry Flavoured Candy Toppers, to sprinkle

Method

  1. Step 1

    Use a large serrated knife to trim the top of the cakes. Cut each cake in half horizontally (reserve 1 cake layer for another use). Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate and spread 1 tbs of the jam over the top.

  2. Step 2

    Use an electric mixer to whisk the cream in a bowl until firm peaks form. Add 2 tbs of the remaining jam and gently marble. Spoon half the cream mixture over the cake. Top with half the cherries. Continue layering with remaining cake, jam, cream mixture and cherries, finishing with the remaining cake layer. Spread with chocolate frosting. Decorate with Cherry Ripe, chocolate curls and candy toppers.
