Turn an ordinary moment into a celebration with lavish chocolate cocktails

Have you ever indulged in an alcohol drink with chocolate? This chocolate martini cocktail recipe is creamy, sweet and boozy, everything you want in an after-dinner treat. It’s essentially the chocolatey version of an espresso martini, featuring Baileys, vodka and dark chocolate. But don’t let its simplicity fool you – this martini is the picture of decadence, making it an impressive drink to serve on a special occasion like celebrating Valentine’s Day with your loved one. Why make cocktails with Baileys Irish Cream?

Do you know the mutual friend who bridges the gap between two strangers at a dinner party? Baileys is that friend. With cocoa extracts present in each shot, it is the perfect liqueur to tie a strong spirit like vodka together with chocolate. In this recipe, using dark chocolate balances the sweetness of the Baileys. This drink is a great dessert option if you’re after one that will charm even those guests who claim they have ‘no more room’ because it isn’t sickly sweet. Besides bearing notes of chocolate, Baileys has a creamy mouthfeel that is similar to melted chocolate, making it easy for the chocolate to blend into the rest of the mixture seamlessly. Quench your thirst with our delightful drinks and choose from the best cocktail recipes in our collection.

Simple ways to tailor each chocolate cocktail to your guests’ tastes

You could use melted white chocolate instead of dark. You could even go as far as replacing the Baileys with white chocolate liqueur for the sweetest martini. Within the chocolate realm, there are many flavour combinations that you can try. Swap Baileys for orange, hazelnut, cherry, strawberry or coffee liqueur. Replace Baileys with choc mint cream liqueur and vodka with bourbon to make a choc peppermint martini. With this recipe, you could add strawberry syrup, salted caramel or even Nutella for extra richness. Or try customising the drink’s flavour by using flavoured vodka. How to garnish your choc Baileys martini

Try a spiral design when drizzling the inside of each glass with chocolate sauce. Moisten the rim of the glass and dip it into finely shaved chocolate, sugar, a mix of sugar and cocoa powder, or a mix of sugar and crushed, freeze-dried strawberries. You can decorate each glass ahead of time and leave it in the fridge overnight until you’re ready to mix and serve the cocktail.

Other fun ways to garnish the martini include placing a solid chocolate egg or frog at the bottom of the glass, adding whipped cream on top, dusting with crushed peppermint or shaved chocolate, or topping with candied orange slices or a candy stick.

What is the best glass to use for this Baileys chocolate cocktail?

V-shaped martini glasses and coupe glasses are ideal for their slender shape that takes your drink to another level of elegance. This cocktail is shaken with ice and served cold, without additional ice, so using glasses with a long stem allows guests to hold onto their cocktail without heating it too quickly with their hands. To ensure your martini stays extra chilled, you may want to chill the glass for a few minutes in the freezer before pouring the drink mixture.
