Five spice beef and vegetable stir fry

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (35g) cornflour
  • 2 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 500g Coles Australian Stir Fry Beef Strips
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 red capsicum, thinly sliced
  • 150g snow peas, trimmed, halved
  • 1 bunch choy sum, coarsely chopped
  • 225g can bamboo shoots, rinsed, drained
  • 2 tbs oyster sauce
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) beef stock
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • Steamed rice, to serve
  • Lime wedges, to serve

Method

  1. Step 1

    Combine the cornflour and five-spice in a medium bowl. Add the beef and toss to coat.
  2. Step 2

    Heat 2 tbs of the oil in a wok or large deep frying pan over high heat. Stir-fry the beef, in batches, for 2-3 mins or until crisp and just cooked through. Transfer to a plate. Discard any excess oil.
  3. Step 3

    Heat the remaining oil in the wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the onion for 2 mins or until soft. Add the garlic, capsicum and snow peas. Stir-fry for 2 mins or until snow peas are just tender. Return the beef to the wok and add choy sum, bamboo shoots and oyster sauce, soy sauce, stock and sugar. Stir-fry for 2 mins or until heated through. Divide among serving bowls and serve with steamed rice and lime wedges.
