Fruit chaat

Experience a burst of fruity goodness with fruit chaat, a vibrant medley of fresh seasonal fruits tossed in tangy spices, creating a refreshing and irresistible delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple (such as Pink Lady), cored, sliced or chopped
  • 1 pear, cored, sliced or chopped
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 yellow nectarine, stoned, chopped
  • 2 red plums, stoned, cut into wedges
  • 125g strawberries, halved
  • 1/2 cup grapes, sliced lengthways
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds (optional)

Marinade

  • 2 tbs caster sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) orange juice
  • 1 tbs lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of ground black pepper
  • Pinch of chilli powder

Method

  1. Step 1

    Combine the apple, pear and lemon juice in a large bowl. Add the nectarine, plum, strawberry, grape and pomegranate seeds, if using. Gently toss to combine.

  2. Step 2

    To make the marinade, whisk the sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, salt, pepper and chilli powder in a small bowl until well combined.

  3. Step 3

    Add marinade to the fruit mixture and gently toss to combine. Place in the fridge for 45 mins to develop the flavours. Divide among serving bowls to serve.

The marinade in this recipe traditionally uses a chaat masala spice mix, but to make your own with ingredients from Coles, use lemon juice, salt, pepper and chilli powder like we’ve done here.
