Haloumi and Hot Honey

Ingredients

  • 180g Riverina Dairy Haloumi
  • 3 tablespoons Capilano Hot Chilli Honey
  • 20g unsalted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Freshly cracked pepper, to serve
  • Salad leaves, to serve

Method

  1. Step 1

    Slice Riverina Dairy Haloumi into 1.5cm thick rectangles, set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Combine lemon juice, cracked pepper and Capilano Hot Chilli Honey in a bowl, set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Heat a large non-stick frypan to medium heat. Once warm, add half of the butter and lay haloumi slices across pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until haloumi is light golden in colour. Do not over-brown at this point. Remove from pan and set aside.

  4. Step 4

    Add remaining butter to frypan and add garlic, toast until fragrant, approx 30 seconds.

  5. Step 5

    Add haloumi back to the frypan along with half of the hot honey mixture. Swirl pan to spread honey mixture then allow to bubble for 2 minutes until sauce thickens.

  6. Step 6

    Remove frypan from heat and transfer haloumi to a serving platter. Serve with salad greens and drizzle with remaining sauce. Serve immediately.
