Recipe tip

COOK. STORE. SAVE.

Clever storage: Make our best strawberry daiquiri recipe ahead of time and store it in the freezer. Pour portion-sized amounts of the finished cocktail into snap lock bags and freeze for up to 1 month. Because of the high sugar content of both the berries and the alcohol, the mixture won’t freeze hard. Instead, it will still be the perfect slushy consistency.

Use it up: If you have strawberries that are beginning to overripe, transfer them to the freezer. Hull them first and place in a layer – not touching – on a plate. Place the plate in the freezer until the berries are frozen and then transfer them to a snaplock bag. Freeze and use in our recipe for strawberry daiquiri.

How to make sugar syrup:
To make a sugar syrup, stir 1 cup (220g) white sugar and 1 cup (250ml) water in a small saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Simmer for about 8 mins or until reduced to about 1 cup (250ml). Transfer to an airtight container and place in the fridge to chill.

Depending on the sweetness of the strawberries, you may like to add a little extra sugar syrup once you have blended and tasted the mixture.

If you have a good quality strawberry dessert sauce at home, you could try substituting it for the sugar syrup.

Strawberry daiquiri recipe

At its simplest, a daiquiri is a blend of rum, lime and sugar syrup. Originating in Cuba, it symbolises laughter, dancing and endless holidays. Our refreshing and fruity version adds even more fun to the mix. Using a combination of fresh and frozen strawberries gives the drink a slushy texture that's brightened by zingy lime and rounded out with sweet sugar syrup. While you can buy strawberry daiquiri mix and add alcohol and ice, why would you when this cocktail goes from 5 strawberry daiquiri ingredients to a drink in your hand in just 5 minutes?

How to make a strawberry daiquiri

To make the best strawberry daiquiris, make sure all of your ingredients – except for the limes – are really cold. The strawberries need to be frozen, not defrosted, and the sugar syrup and white rum should be stored in the fridge. No special equipment is required, just throw everything into a blender. Although you can use a food processor, the design of a blender works best. Alternatively, you can make individual servings and blend in a nutribullet. Pour your cocktails into a serving glass of your choice, whether it be an elegant coupe or a sturdier hurricane glass.

What alcohol is used in this frozen strawberry daiquiri recipe?

We use white rum in our frozen strawberry daiquiris. More often known by its brand name, Bacardi, white rum is a clear alcohol like vodka with a clean, light flavour that suits the floral fresh flavour of strawberries. Try to avoid dark or spiced rum, as it might overwhelm the delicate flavours of the drink.

What is the best way to garnish a strawberry daiquiri?

There are a few ways to dress up your strawberry daiquiri. To start, you can wet the rim of your glass with lime juice and place the glass upside down into caster sugar, then garnish with a whole strawberry with the hull intact. Make a small cut three-quarters of the way up the berry and slip it onto the rim of the glass. You can also add a wedge of lime to the rim. The lime can also be squeezed into the drink for an extra level of flavour. If you want, you can serve your drink with a wide straw like a slurpee.
