Preheat oven to 180°C. Slice the bread into 1.5cm slices without cutting all the way through. Place the butter and half the herbs in a small bowl and stir to combine. Brush the cut-side of each bread slice with the butter mixture. Place the bread on a baking tray and bake for 10 mins or until golden and crisp.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large deep frying pan over medium heat. Cook onion, stirring, for 3 mins or until onion softens. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 min or until fragrant. Add the beans, tomato, stock cubes and ½ cup (125ml) water. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 mins or until sauce thickens and beans are heated through.
Sprinkle beans with the remaining herbs and serve with herbed bread.
