How to cook corn

Want to cook corn in a flash? This microwave method makes it easy to remove the husks and silks in one go. Dish it up, add some butter and season for a delicous, juicy side or snack.

This is the quickest way to cook fresh sweet corn and the easiest way to remove the husk and silk. Best of all, there’s no mess.

Place the corn, with the green husk still intact, in the microwave. Cook on high for 2 minutes. Use a tea towel or tongs to turn the hot corn, then cook in the microwave for another 2 minutes. The husk traps the heat and moisture, cooking the kernels evenly.

Place the corn on a chopping board. Use a tea towel to firmly hold the top of the corn cob with one hand. Use a large sharp knife to cut off the base, about 2 centimetres from where the  stalk joins the cob. Use the tea towel to pull away the top of the corn so the husk and the silk slip off in one go.

Serve the sweet corn with butter for a delicious veggie side or snack.
